Walks without your iPhone, or times you weren't wearing your Apple Watch, can't be counted.
The widget's length is a little different from the app.
iOS doesn't let apps read Health data while your iPhone is locked. While locked, the widget shows a length estimated from the distance counted by the motion sensor. When you unlock and open the app, it switches to the exact length from Health. The length never shrinks.
Notifications are slow to arrive.
Alerts for new pups and badges usually arrive within about an hour after you unlock your iPhone following a walk. Because iOS limits how often apps can wake up, they may not arrive while you're still walking. Alerts from the night (10 PM–7 AM) arrive together at 7 AM.
I walked 50 km, but no new pup came.
If you already have every coat, you get an “adoption ticket” instead. When an update adds new coats, one new pup arrives for each saved ticket.
Do my past walks count?
Your dog grows with the distance you walk from the day it arrives. Distance from before you installed the app isn't included.
What happens to my dog if I change iPhones?
If you're signed in to iCloud, your dogs and stats come back on a new iPhone with the same Apple Account. Your walking distance itself stays in Health.
